President, Ocean Assets Institute, Switzerland
D. Michael Adams established the non-profit Ocean Assets Institute (OAI) to finance solutions for sustainable maritime industries and conservation. He is active on several investment initiatives for sustainable oceans, including the EC Blue Economy Investment Platform, Pacific Ocean Finance Program and Marine Assets Standards for Green Bonds. OAI’s Blue Capital Initiative advises investors on green shipping, ports and marine energy. Michael began his career by founding The Journal of Investing in 1987 and Pedigree Investments Ltd in 1992, raising over $1bn for alternative investment funds. In 2010, he became active in sustainable finance as an Advisor to GH Partners (New York) and several European firms. Michael and his family lived in the Bahamas (2006-9) where they funded coral reef studies and participated in the establishment of a marine reserve. Michael holds a MSc Business Policy from Columbia University, a BA from Bates College and lives with his family in Switzerland.
